Bake at Home Pastries
Please read the following instructions carefully ahead of time to make sure your Christmas morning croissants are as delicious as they can possibly be!
You will need:
your frozen Burnt Honey pastriesa baking tray
a working oven
an egg
a pastry brush
baking paper
a plastic bag to cover the tray while proofing
Instructions:
- Keep your croissants frozen
- On the day before baking, place your croissants in their package, in the fridge to thaw for 4 - 6 hours.
- Before you go to bed (around 9pm), carefully take your croissants out of their bag, and place them on a tray lined with baking paper, leaving at least 10cm between each one
- Place the tray in the home compostable plastic bag provided, making sure the croissants do not touch the bag, folding the excess under the tray to seal the air in
- Place the tray on the kitchen bench overnight, away from draughts
- The following morning, check your croissants, they are ready to bake when they have roughly doubled in size, likely around 7am
- Preheat your oven to 200°C
- Remove the tray from the plastic bag and gently brush your croissants with a well beaten egg
- Place the tray in the oven, allowing room for your croissants to expand as they bake, and reduce the temperature to 180°C
- Bake for 16 - 20 minutes until flaky and golden
- Allow to cool slightly before eating
